Asscher Cut

Added on by Jacquelyn Gleisner.

This week I made two new paintings that are based loosely on Asscher cut diamonds. Unlike my paintings below, a true Asscher is a square, similar to an emerald cut.

In 1902 the Asscher Cut was the first cut to become patented by its creator, Joseph Asscher, the grandson of John Isaac Asscher, the founder of the Royal Asscher Diamond Company. The company's headquarters still stands in its original location in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
